Allergies SUCK

I woke up this morning feeling like I was hit by a bus. I felt achey all over and my nose and throat were rebelling against me. I decided not to go to the gym this morning and my mom made me a nice hot cup of tea as I relaxed on the couch. I then got a hot shower to try and open up my sinuses. I had a quick breakfast of an onion and green pepper scramble, waffles with vanilla greek yogurt and an orange. It was yummy! Image

I feel like I got a lot done at work today. I worked with Clayton and we got all the online orders done, I taught him how to count registers, we got new arrivals tagged and we got Youth and Kids restocked and we figured out what needed to be reordered. My mom dropped off lunch for me from Whole Foods because she is awesome.Image I had a great time working with Clayton today. We had really good conversation to help the work day go by quickly. My boss was in an All Star Game meeting the entire afternoon but we managed to hold down the fort haha. 

When I got home at 6 I had a Kind bar for quick snackImage. At 7 I walked over to Evan’s house. It was warm out, and even though it was cloudy and rained most of the day, it still felt nice to be outside.Image I went over to Evan’s to finish watching Man of Steel. We then started The Dark Knight Rises but then started watching River Monsters because Evan’s little siblings couldn’t watch the movie. His family is great though, so friendly and funny! I had a really nice time. 

I just had my late dinner of chorizo chicken sausage, rice and broccoli. Quick and easy, mostly because it was what my parents made for dinner so all I had to do was heat it up haha! Image

I just had a really amazing day and I am so filled with joy right now, even though I am suffering from sucky allergies! I hope everyone had a great day!

I Think Old Blue is Turning into my Kitchen Table

Hello and happy Tuesday! 

This morning I was up early to get ready for work. Today was the second (and last) Education Day at the ballpark. It was an 11:05 am game so the good thing was that I was on my way home at 3! I ended up eating my breakfast on the way in to work in Old Blue and then I ate my lunch as I drove home.ImageImage The weather managed to cooperate for the game and the 9000 kids in attendance seemed happy to be away from school. They were wreaking havoc on the store though! We were busy the entire hour and half between the gates being opened and the start of the game and then throughout the entire game. We sold more mini bats than we have ever sold before. It was just a crazy day. 

When I got home all I did was relax for the rest of the day. I had a snack of cashews and a Kashi bar while I relaxed.Image We watched a Stallone movie tonight, Bullet to the Head, and it was interesting. I liked it, it was a good action movie. For dinner we had pork tenderloin, stewed yellow squash, grilled zucchini and sweet potatoes. It was tasty!Image

I am going to go have a little snack and hit the bed. I woke up today with a sore throat and it has been sore all day. I hope I am not getting sick, but I don’t want it to be allergies either! Ahhh! Maybe it will go away overnight. Tomorrow I want to go to the Y in the morning before I go in to work. I am working 9-5 so it will be a decent day of work for me! I find that I have more motivation in the morning to workout than I do in the evening. Anyone else the same way?

Hitting Refresh

Today was a nice, low key day. It was a perfect way to hit the refresh button for my system. I had an easy going morning, which I started by working on the crossword puzzle before fixing my breakfast.Image

After breakfast I decided to do a few small chores so I did laundry, dishes and a quick clean up of the kitchen.

Then I got ready for my appointment with Mary! It was a great session. I told her all about the past couple of days and how I overcame the challenges I faced. I filled her in on the events of Thursday: my trip to UNC to meet up with a friend, dinner (burgers) with the guys and the bonfire. I told her about puppy sitting and the race I had on Saturday. It was nice to reflect on some of the events of the weekend because I also realized a few things that I didn’t notice before. For example, I noticed I have gotten better at eating at a normal pace, or even at a quicker pace if I am short on time. My exampled were Sunday morning when I had to quickly eat breakfast before going over to Evan’s to watch a movie before work, when I was at work and I had a large snack that I had to squeeze in during a short break and when I would eat lunch at work. I wasn’t upset that I couldn’t savor each bite and take my time because I was actually busy living my life! We then talked about a few things that still are a concern/worry. I admit that eating out is still a little difficult and then just being conscious about the amount of fat or protein in a meal. I’m not sure why protein is a little challenging but Mary reassured me that there is no reason for me to worry about getting too much. She gave me a few suggestions about possibly having vegetarian meals for breakfast and lunches when we are planning on having a large portion of meat for dinner. So we had a good conversation about that and then set up some good goals for me!

After my appointment with Mary I went to Whole Foods and picked up lunch for my mom and I. I built my mom a salad and then picked out a sandwich, veggies, fruit and a yogurt for myself. Image

After lunch I headed home and got ready for the barn. I managed to get a quick lunge in with Vinnie in between periods of light rain. I think he really enjoyed his grooming as well! I missed him this past weekend so I was glad that I spent some time with him today.ImageImage

After the barn I hit the couch and had some major relaxation time. For my snack I had a kashi bar and trail mix. Image

We just finished our dinner of leftover chicken, veggies and potatoes.Image It was yummy! Anndddd the Penguins won!!! Yippee! On to Round 2 of the playoffs!

I am going to have my snack and hit the bed early since I have to be at work at 8:30 in the morning! I hope you had a wonderful day!

I Couldn’t Have Asked for a Better Day :)

Yesterday was an incredible day. I felt so at ease and in the moment throughout the day and it felt like I was living my life free of many of the things that constantly occupy my mind. 

For breakfast I made a red pepper and broccoli scramble, oatmeal topped with blackberries and mixed nuts, and a chai latte.Image I worked on fixing pictures for the Bulls online store and then I was off to get ready to go to Chapel Hill.Image I met my friend, Adam, for a little jogging tour of Carolina’s campus and then we had lunch at one of the cafeterias. The campus was GORGEOUS. It helped that it was a beautiful day, but there wasn’t one thing that I didn’t like. After jogging through/around the campus I feel much more comfortable with it. It wasn’t as expansive and overwhelming as I imagined so that was a relief. I wish I took pictures, but I was busy trying to take it all in! For lunch I might have been predictable and had a turkey sandwich, veggies and fruit.Image But you know, I just had to test out the quality of one of my staples while I was there haha! I had an amazing time and I think I can officially say I will be attending in the Fall! 

I did a few errands on my way home before I continued to work on the photos for the online store. Then I might have taken a nap haha. I cleaned and prepped for guests to come over, taking a break for a Kashi bar for my snack.Image Josh and Justin came over and they grilled burgers while I cooked the sides. It was funny, the burgers kind of turned out to be giant meatballs, but I still thought they were good! They also were 73% lean 27% fat, which I didn’t even know existed, but I didn’t let that stop me from living in the moment and enjoying the fabulous meal we all created for each other!  I made honey roasted carrots and potato wedges as the sides.Image I thought it was delicious! I hope they did too! After we did a quick clean up in the kitchen we headed outside and worked on getting the bonfire rolling. It took us a while, but eventually it was alive and kicking! It didn’t stay big for long, but we managed to keep it going.Image My neighbor/friend, Evan (who I haven’t talked to in maybe a year), joined us with his friend, Sam. I had a really nice time, just sitting around the fire and having entertaining conversation with all the guys. It felt totally natural and I felt like it was a huge accomplishment to have that many people around and still be social and comfortable. Justin and Josh left maybe around 11 and Evan and Sam stayed till after midnight, which was when the fire died. Again, I couldn’t have asked for a better night. I had so much fun and I can’t wait to do it again. Part of me is worried that everyone else didn’t have as much fun as I did, but that is a normal feeling for a hostess to have, right? 

When I came inside I fixed a little almond butter sandwich and ate it with an apple before I went to bed. I slept so well! I woke up a few times, but I slept in till 9:15! That felt great to rest up. For breakfast this morning I fixed another bowl of oatmeal topped with blackberries, a scramble with broccoli, onions and hot sauce, and a chai latte. Mmm, mmm, mmmm.Image Now I need to go get ready for a big day! I need to go back to Chapel Hill to pick up my race packet for tomorrow’s race, I am going to the barn, and then this afternoon I begin my weekend of puppy/house sitting! Think it, Feel it, Make it Happen

Happy Wednesday! Half way to the weekend. Is everyone excited?

This morning I woke up and got dressed before I fixed a quick breakfast. I had to hurry to eat it so I could make it to Mary’s by 8, but it was still tasty and satisfying! I had an orange, some carrots, a chai latte and a bowl of granola with almond milk. Image

My time with Mary flew by! I began by telling her about my weekend in PA. I told her about my amazing and spontaneous experience with the guy I met on the plane. Talking the entire flight and then having breakfast with him at the Detroit airport was something that I never would have been able to do two years ago. Two years ago I would have been socially paralyzed by the fears I had with engaging in conversation and just pushing myself to be spontaneous and have breakfast with a stranger. I told Mary how in high school I avoided everything. Literally, I avoided talking in class, I avoided guys I liked, I avoided doing things outside of school with friends, all because I was so scared that body would betray me by showing my nerves and anxiety. I was known for turning beet red all over. I hated it so I did everything to avoid it. I connected it to the book I am reading that Mary lent me: Ask and it is Given. When you want or ask for something in life, you have to be mentally aligned with those wishes as well or else there is no way you will achieve what you want. If you think negatively, then events in life are going to reflect that. So I told Mary how I used to simply have to think about turning red and my body would do so. We talked about that for a while and she told me how people with eating disorders can also do something similar. They can think themselves full. I used to do that by vicariously eating through others or by watching the food network. My thoughts were strong enough to convince my body it wasn’t hungry, even though it was starving. She shared this really interesting article she heard on NPR. Mind Over Milkshakes. After talking about that we talked more about the book I am reading and we looked at one of the exercises in it to help get as close to joy as possible. It was just a really great, uplifting session!

I went to work after my time with Mary and spent the morning working on the online orders. Then I added more product to the online store. My mom dropped me off lunch from Whole Foods and I took her up through the dugout to show her the new stadium since she hadn’t seen it yet. It was a nice little midday visit from her! Lunch was yummy too. Two hardboiled eggs with veggies and quinoa, grapes and pineapple, yogurt and a WhatsoNutso bar.Image I spent the rest of the afternoon taking pictures of apparel and photoshopping it to get it ready to put up online. I took work home with me… I am going to try and get the pictures finished so on Saturday when I work again they will be ready to be put up.

I had a Kashi bar when I got home before I headed out to the barn. I had a great ride! I rode Vinnie in a simple straight rein today and I thought he did very well. There were a few moments when he stuck his head up and I could have used the leverage of the German martingale, but it was nothing major 🙂 Renee rode Ray at the same time so we also got practice with having traffic in the arena. I helped Renee with feeding the horses before I left for home.ImageDark picture, but Vinnie was hungry!

When I got home I watched the Penguins game and relaxed. My mom made a delicious dinner: Grilled chicken, grilled zucchini, sauteed peppers and onions, pepperjack cheese. Then I heated up a tiny sweet potato and topped it with a laughing cow wedge. Yum! Image

Now I am going to go try and figure out if I have the program I need on my laptop in order to get these pictures ready for work. Have a good night!

Art Field Trip and Reunion with Vinnie

This morning I woke up feeling well rested and ready to take on the day! I got ready for work before I made my breakfast. I fix a red pepper scramble, a chai latte and a bowl of oatmeal topped with berries.Image Then I was off to work! When I got to the Bulls I got started on pulling items for the online orders. A bit before 10 all of the staff hit the road to go to the art museum in Raleigh. There was the opening of the Bull City Summer exhibit which featured photography taken by several artists last summer. There is a book that was published and so this exhibit displayed a few pieces. It was really interesting to see everything through a different perspective. I enjoyed it very much and it was nice to think about the park and baseball in a different way. After the tour of the exhibit we all went to the restaurant at the museum for lunch. I was disappointed that we were not given the menu to order for ourselves. The lunch that was given us was still good, but it was slightly difficult to be completely comfortable with it. There was a little side salad, a pasta and the chicken was breaded and fried, topped with a mushroom sauce.Image The voice in my head was telling me that I should refrain from eating it because the fat content was sure to be higher than what I was used to eating. But I was able to get over that, mostly because I didn’t was to isolate myself from the social event of enjoying lunch and the company of my co-workers. I ate until I felt satisfied, doing my best to listen to the signals from my body.

Once lunch was over we headed back to the Bulls stadium. I worked on getting the remainder of the caps and the 47 Brand apparel up on the website. That was pretty much the remainder of my work day!

When I got home I had a quick snack before I headed out to the barn to spend time with Vinnie.Image I gave him a good brushing before I tacked him up to ride. He was such a good boy! I just did a quick ride but he was excellent and I had a great time 🙂 Image I talked to Renee for a few minutes and then helped feed by giving Vinnie his sweet feed and hay before I left. When I got home I started making my dinner. I fixed penne with leftover chicken sausage and squash. I also steamed up some broccoli and topped it with a wedge of Laughing Cow white cheddar. It was very yummy!Image Then I watched Cocktail with my parents. Now I am going to go have a snack before I catch some sleep. I have my appointment with Mary bright and early in the morning before I got to work!
